The California State Library empowers the people of the nation’s most diverse and populous state by providing credible information services to all Californians, especially those in state government and the Legislature, libraries, academia, and persons with disabilities; leading and establishing partnerships with California libraries through funding, program development, and support; and preserving and providing access to California’s unique history to enrich the lives of current and future generations.
SCLC is a consortium of 40 independent city, county and special district public libraries located in Los Angeles and Ventura counties which have agreed to cooperate in providing library service to the residents of all participating jurisdictions. SCLC provides member libraries a resource-sharing network and a means for enhancing the level and diversity of resources available to library users, while reducing duplication of effort.
