Activity Details
Divide children into color teams that match the colored manipulatives – red, green, blue, yellow, etc.
Give each team a plastic cup.
Scatter the manipulatives all over the room.
Explain that each team is responsible for hunting its color and will have one minute to find them. They must only get their color.
Announce which team will go first, and everyone will cheer them on.
Children on the first team run around hunting their color and dropping it into the cup.
When the time is up, everyone cheers and claps for them, and they sit down.
After all the teams have gone, have each team bring their filled cup up together and pour it into the big container, one team at a time.
Have children pick up any manipulatives left on the floor and drop them into the container. When all the manipulatives are in the container, show it off to the children, and talk about how we cooperated and worked together to do it.
