Scatter wadded up scrap paper.
Divide children into 3 lines.
Place a blue recycle bin and tongs at the end of each line. Tell children they will clean up the paper and put it where it belongs, which is in the recycle buckets.
Explain the rules of the game: One person from each group will use the tongs to pick up a certain number of paper. They will carry the paper with the tongs as they walk to the recycle bins and place the paper in the bucket the number of times indicated (1, 2, or 3). They will walk back to their line and gently hand the tongs to the next person. The children will continue to take turns until all the paper is in the recycle bins. This is not meant to be a competitive activity. Tell the children that cleaning up can be fun.
